Love King, produced and written by The-Dream. I thought I would never say this but it is one of the best and solid r&b albums I have heard for a long time probably since Thr33 Ringz. The-Dream went crazy on this and told the truth. Each song and it's transitions are genius. All his references and punns are tooo good. For a person to truely understand this album you would have to listen to LoveHate & Love vs. Money. Personally my favorite tracks are: Love King, Make Up Bag, FILA, Sex Intelligent, Sex Intelligent pt. 2, Nikki pt. 2, Abyss, February Love. Just basically the whole album. The album is out, so get it! Oh and if you haven't seen the promos...make sure none of your parents are around cause it is DIRTTTYYYY!!!! You thought his Ciara's Ride video was dirty?!

In my music class, my professor spoke of a big composer, John Cage. I know most of you watched this saying what a complete waste of time, which is true. Haha but this shows how simple is goood. Anyways he created this peice because he wanted to prove that there is no such thing as silence. The peice is in three movements (tacet, tacet, and tacet). Each movement is made in pure rests. There is no such thing as "complete" silence. If you are alive your heart will always beat which makes a beat or tempo. I think it is genius. He became a millionaire from this peice that he approached with no fear. Pretty damn good.

He might be crazy but I respect his level of bravery.

Eastern Sierras w/ Professor Grylls

Myself and our class (Outdoor Adventuring) took a trip to the Eastern Sierras (Tom's Place, Bishop, Mammoth, etc) for an amazing camping experience from Friday, May 7th to Sunday, May 9th.

On our way there, we passed by a town that looked like the scene from Terminator 2

The drive was about 4 hrs and 30 min to our destination in our 4 rapist tour vans.

As we look for our spot to pitch our tent, we run into a wild ice cold river (28 degrees)

Meet Phil., he is the bbq man aka executive chef. Him cooking massive burgers and hotdogs just ready to be released in toilets. Then after dinner we go to sleep.

Day 2: Wake up to Matt right smack in my face looking mummified.

We head down to the lake and find a snowman dead smack in the middle.

After we went even lower and found this ice cold water lake which I had to cross. I failed to take any futher pictures of this due to me falling into snow and then breaking into lake water. My feet were frozen and I am lucky to even still be alive.

Our class then moves along to a different side of the Sierras.

Starting point.

Meet Alyssa. This was our driver and I failed to introduce her into the beginning of this post due to me being in shock from all her stories and lifestyle that she lives. She is super awesome and I thought she was Bisexual because she was pimpin everybody in site. But she told me she's a lesbian (who is linked to all my friends). She is very open and for about 45 hrs of our trip, she talked about all her lesbian encounters and how she is the greatest wingwoman ever. I shall stop here because any further content will have my blog deleted.

SWEEET JESUS!!!

After, we had to turn back because sun was coming down and we needed to start cooking dinner.

We got back to the camp, Me and Matt decided to build a igloo made from sticks. Thank you Bear Grylls for our knowledge.

We get back and find Phil already cooking the chicken and tri-tip. Let me tell you, the meat was phenomenal! And Phil's 12 inch pythons were really pumping those potatoes. May I add, top 10 mashed potatoes I have tasted. (No pictures due to me concentrating all my energy to tri-tip and mashed potatoes.)

After the pinata, we all sat around the campfire and shared some precious times. We then witnessed a bear right behind us because of all the smores and toasted marshmellows!

Just kidding about the bears, I found a picture and thought it was a bear. Anyways, we finished the night all around the campfire with the following:

We woke up on Sunday to pack and leave the camp. Before heading home we stopped by a bakery called Shats. It was thee most amazing bakery I have been into. I thought we were in Adventureland in Disneyland.

Alyssa drove all the way back home w/ thee craziest, dirtiest, shocking, scariest, and funniest stories in a span of 4 hrs. Professor Grylls then thanked us and said we were the greatest group of campers he had experienced and said I am one crazy son of a bitch.

The following is a statement from Guru's family:

The Elam family wishes to thank the fans of our son/brother/father uncle/nephew/cousin Keith aka GURU for the outpouring of love, concern and support.

Our hearts are broken by the loss of someone we loved so much. GURU was devoted to his young son, who will most keenly feel his absence.

GURU suffered from multiple myeloma for over a year. Accrued complications from this illness led to respiratory failure and cardiac arrest. As a result, GURU was in a coma from mid February until his death and never regained consciousness. Early on the morning of April 19th, he became hypertensive due to low blood pressure. He again went into cardiac arrest and slipped away from us.

GURU died far too young but he was, and we are, proud of all his many legendary musical contributions.

The family is not aware of any foundations established by GURU. We know and understand that countless fans want to express their condolences and love and, to that end, we are planning a memorial event in the near future that will be all-inclusive. Please look for further details from the family as they become available.

Rapper/composer Guru aka Keith Elam, first rose to prominence as the "lyrical half" of the hip-hop duo, Gang Starr, one of the first outfits that attempted to fuse jazz with rap. After three albums by Gang Starr hit record store shelves (1989's No More Mr. Nice Guy, 1991's Step in the Arena, and 1992's Daily Operation), Guru launched his own solo career, issuing Jazzmatazz, Vol. 1 in 1993. The album featured guest appearances by the likes of Roy Ayers, Donald Byrd, and N'Dea Davenport of the Brand New Heavies, and was followed up two years later by a sophomore solo outing, Jazzmatazz, Vol. 2: The New Reality, which again featured a variety of special guests (including Ramsey Lewis, Branford Marsalis, and members of Jamiroquai).

Despite his solo career, Guru remained treal to Gang Starr as well, continuing to contribute to further albums such as 1994's Hard to Earn and 1998's Moment of Truth. In 2000, five years after his second solo outing appeared, Streetsoul (the third in the Jazzmatazz series) was issued, again featuring a stellar cast of supporting characters: Herbie Hancock, Isaac Hayes, the Roots, Erykah Badu, and Macy Gray. After all the success, he retrieved cancer which he battled. He kept it secret then releasing hits such as Moment of Truth, etc, etc. The rest is pretty much self explanatory.

Before Guru's passing, Solar (Guru's current producer) retrieved a letter Guru wrote to his family and friends...The following written by Keith Elam:

I, Guru, am writing this letter to my fans, friends and loved ones around the world. I have had a long battle with cancer and have succumbed to the disease. I have suffered with this illness for over a year. I have exhausted all medical options.

I have a non-profit organization called Each One Counts dedicated to carrying on my charitable work on behalf of abused and disadvantaged children from around the world and also to educate and research a cure for this terrible disease that took my life. I write this with tears in my eyes, not of sorrow but of joy for what a wonderful life I have enjoyed and how many great people I have had the pleasure of meeting.

My loyal best friend, partner and brother, Solar, has been at my side through it all and has been made my health proxy by myself on all matters relating to myself. He has been with me by my side on my many hospital stays, operations, doctors visits and stayed with me at my home and cared for me when I could not care for myself. Solar and his family is my family and I love them dearly and I expect my family, friends, and fans to respect that, regardless to anybody's feelings on the matter. It is my wish that counts. This being said I am survived by the love of my life, my sun KC, who I trust will be looked after by Solar and his family as their own. Any awards or tributes should be accepted, organized approved by Solar on behalf myself and my son until he is of age to except on his own.

I do not wish my ex-DJ to have anything to do with my name likeness, events tributes etc. connected in anyway to my situation including any use of my name or circumstance for any reason and I have instructed my lawyers to enforce this. I had nothing to do with him in life for over 7 years and want nothing to do with him in death. Solar has my life story and is well informed on my family situation, as well as the real reason for separating from my ex-DJ. As the sole founder of GangStarr, I am very proud of what GangStarr has meant to the music world and fans. I equally am proud of my Jazzmatazz series and as the father of Hip-Hop/Jazz. I am most proud of my leadership and pioneering efforts on Jazzmatazz 4 for reinvigorating the Hip-Hop/Jazz genre in a time when music quality has reached an all time low. Solar and I have toured in places that I have never been before with GangStarr or Jazzmatatazz and we gained a reputation for being the best on the planet at Hip-Hop/Jazz, as well as the biggest and most influential Hip-Hop/Jazz record with Jazzmatazz 4 of the decade to now. The work I have done with Solar represents a legacy far beyond its time. And we as a team were not afraid to push the envelope. To me this is what true artists do! As men of honor we stood tall in the face of small mindedness, greed, and ignorance. As we fought for music and integrity at the cost of not earning millions and for this I will always be happy and proud, and would like to thank the million fans who have seen us perform over the years from all over the world. The past 6 months or so, I have been lectured by one of my professors who knows almost EVERYTHING about classical music, the anatomy of movements, and everything. Prof. Maldenado was lecturing about the 3 giants during the Classical era, Hayden, Mozart, and Beethoven. Each bringing new things to the table. Beethoven died almost 200 years ago. His music which I have been studying for about half a year now really showed me how to appreciate it. The set up and perfection shaped our music today, mostly the Pop genre. He is truely a genius and ahead of his time. Creating the different forms and organization of a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd movement in the form of (ABA). Moonlight Sonata, a peice that creates overwhelming feelings but personally my favorite. Beautifully setup and organized.

Fun fact: Yoko Ono was playing this song on the piano one day and John Lennon told her, "Can you play this song backwards?" and what do you know. We have the song by The Beatles, "Because."

So I am sure many of you know about the "We are the World" remake that Will.i.am wrote for the new generation of musicians. The original was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie. The remake was written by Will.i.am and assisted by Lionel Richie.

I really respect and love the intentions of the remake and how awesome it is. I'm glad everybody is getting together to help and assist Haiti in their needs. But daaamn. Let me take out the intentions and everything.

Is it me or there was no talent involved in this song? Well of course that sounds dumb. But Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Nicole S., and many other artists I don't care bout. The only one I believe that should stay was T-Pain, Weezy, maybe Redman, Snoop, and some other ones. I can't believe they didn't have R. Kelly, Justin Timberlake, Smokey, Billy Joel, Arnel Pineda, RZA, GZA, Pretty Toney, Christina Aguilera, Cam'ron, Juelz, Elton John, etc etc...

I was looking over craigslist, ebay, thrift stores for any awesome finds. I ran into Bobby Caldwell, "What You Won't Do For Love" on vinyl but not any ordinary vinyl. A 10" 45rpm HEART SHAPED vinyl. I always heard of it being made but never seen it. I finally found it. Another reason why I think Mayer Hawthorne is a biter. I know there are some other artists that did make a heart shaped vinyl but Mayer...I remember hearing you saying something I made the first? or something. Anyways. such a great find.

Last week I bought one of the best LP's I have ever ran into.

It's called Home Schooled: The ABC's of Kid Soul brought to you by the Numero Group.

It is #16 of their collections and this has to be the best one.

Basically this LP is a compilation of kid soul from the 60s/70s during the rise of Michael Jackson and the Jacksons. All of the kids on this LP basically competed against MJ and did no conquer of course. These kids have so much amazing talent and makes me look at the kids we have now like Shaheen Jafargholi and be like DAAAMN MUSIC DOES SUCK NOW! EVEN KIDS! haha. Just kidding, Shaheen is good.
